Favorite Photo Books: The Donegal Pictures
In photography as in so many other things, sometimes you have to stray off the beaten path to find the really good stuff. Meander through the catalog of the Wake Forest University Press, a small publisher that specializes in Irish poetry, and you will come across a well-hidden jewel: The Donegal Pictures by Rachel Brown (formerly Rachel Giese). These are quiet, beautifully-seen black-and-white photographs that have grown on me over the years, to the point where I can't imagine being without them.Rachel Brown has a website now as well. You can preview some of The Donegal Pictures here.

Rachel's work is thoughtful, considered and effortlessly eloquent; I too have this book and enjoy revisiting the images time after time. Good luck, Andy
